UCCRN's City Solutions Case Study Atlas (City CSA) is an accessible database of recent and current climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies that cities globally are implementing within their local contexts. Case studies included in the UCCRN City CSA pay special attention to solutions-based projects and initiatives in urban and metropolitan settings. Case studies are reviewed by experts, searchable by keywords and data map visualization, and focused on distinct solutions across topics like finance, governance, and nature-based solutions. The UCCRN City CSA will also serve as a rigorous evidence-base for the upcoming IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Cities, now underway.
The UCCRN City CSA continues the robust work of the UCCRN Case Study Docking Station, providing critical insights on climate change initiatives in cities around the world. Identifying the need to close knowledge and resource gaps, the UCCRN City CSA engages UCCRN’s twelve regional hubs and invites global authors to submit their work, emphasizing the perspectives and voices of researchers, policymakers, NGOs, and other key stakeholders from the Global South. In this way, the UCCRN City CSA provides meaningful solutions and evidence-based publications for researchers, civil society groups, and practitioners alike.
The UCCRN City CSA is made possible through our core partnerships with the Columbia Center for Climate Systems Research (CCSR), the Center for Integrated Earth System Information (CIESIN), CUNY Hunter College, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the University of Southern Denmark, and Aalborg University. Our larger city networks include C40, the Global Covenant of Mayors (GCoM), and UN-Habitat.
