In late July, UCCRN hosted the launch event for the ARC3.3 “Financing Urban Transitions to Climate Neutrality and Increased Resilience in Cities” Element.
Hosted at the Columbia University Climate School, the launch featured the Element’s main findings, opportunities for innovation, and conversations about the rapidly evolving field of climate finance. A central message was that, while sufficient global capital exists to support urban climate action, cities of all sizes face significant barriers due to a lack of effective financing. The event also highlighted that estimates of the economic cost of urban climate impacts underestimate the true scale of losses by failing to account for the cumulative effects of climate-related hazards.
