About the Session
This event, co-sponsored by the Urban Climate Change Research Network (UCCRN) and the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM), will provide a venue for key city organizations to share how they are filling knowledge and action gaps in regard to the Global Research and Action Agenda on Cities and Climate Change Science.
Prominent representatives from key city and climate change organizations will present two major activities that respond to the research gaps identified by the Global Research and Action Agenda on Cities and Climate Change Science. This includes the launch of the third UCCRN Assessment of Climate Change and Cities (ARC3.3) and the Research Agenda of GCoM’s Innovate4Cities initiative.
UCCRN will launch ARC3.3 as a series of Special Reports targeted at filling the research gaps identified by the Cities Global Research Agenda: Urban Climate Science; Responding to Shocks and Stresses; Informality; Governance; Big Data and IT; Finance; Sustainable Consumption and Production; Urban Planning and Design; Infrastructure; and Behavior. The ARC3.3 Special Reports will be co-produced by a special interactive process of stakeholder and researcher engagement.
Representatives of the Global Covenant of Mayors Research and Innovation Technical Working Group will present their work guiding the Innovate4Cities Initiative, including a gap analysis of city network research that responds to the Global Research and Action Agenda on Cities and Climate Change Science. The session will be followed by discussion with the audience, speakers and UCCRN and GCoM members.
